Hi, I’m Olivia.
Welcome to the Hollow!
This little valley in the Finger Lakes of New York is where I’ve made my home with my husband Andrew and our kids “Max” and “Miki,” as her older brother calls her.
With German, Japanese, and African-American roots, exploring the world is in my nature. (In fact, I decided to “go pro” as a sociocultural anthropologist and writer. I know A LOT about plum jam in northern Poland!). But after years of moving back and forth between Germany, the States, and Poland, it feels good to slow down the pace and build a happy – intentional, sustainable, community-oriented – life with my family.
When in doubt, look for me in the kitchen, where I spend many happy hours cooking, baking, experimenting, tasting, planning, dehydrating, fermenting – and convincing the kids that yes, you can eat that.
But you’ll find me equally content writing, practicing yoga (I’m a certified 200-hour yoga & meditation teacher), digging in the garden, planning and travel-hacking our next trip, decluttering our house (again), figuring out how to save time and resources, teaching my kids German, playing chamber music, plotting our financial independence, DIY-ing, reading a book, working really hard to be a peaceful parent, and feeding my curiosity on an endless array of topics.
So if you’re seeking inspiration and well-researched practical solutions for a varied, joyful, delicious, and simply good life, you’re in the right place.
